The Tunbridge Wells mummy's guide to the TN card: Old Auction House

Address: Old Auction House, Linden Park Road, TN2 5QL

Member reward: 10% discount on food and drink

Opening times: 8:30am-5pm Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm Saturday, 9am - 4pm Sunday

Hidden in plain sight, TN card partner Old Auction House really is a gem in Tunbridge Wells. A family friendly gem that is!   Located just a stone throw away from the hustle and bussle of our beloved Pantiles, The Old Auction House is situated just at the bottom of it right after the Sussex Arms Pub. Location: 10/10.

Menu: 9/10. A great selection of breakfast dishes as well as an extensive list of drinks and cakes are available all day.  The alcoholic and  non-alcoholic drinks list is absolutely impressive including wine beers, coffees and delicious smoothies if you are up for a health kick!  Personally I'd recommend the Eggs Royal with the blueberry smoothie (antioxidants and all that..) but you can't go wrong with the Croques and Crepes. After all the owner is French, so you get the most authentic French dishes using locally sourced ingredients topped with a bit of French flair and attitude (according to him!)

Kids menu: 11/10. A great selection of kid friendly mains (think sausage, chicken nuggets, fish fingers) that come with a side dish of your toddler's choice plus a drink AND an ice cream! All for £6...did I mention everything is served in bright and colourful (also unbreakable) cups and plates so you don't have to feel on edge that something will get smashed?  Yes please!!!

Space: 10/10. The inside space is bright and open with lots of natural light coming from the high ceilings. The outside space is lovely on a sunny day, kitted out with rattan chairs and sofas and lots of greenery.

Facilities: 10/10. There is a dedicated kids area just behind the bar with a toy box full to the brim with Peppa Pig anything, trucks, dolls, Paw Patrol and anything else your little one might want or need just so you get a breather and have a hot coffee in peace. There is also a lot of arts and crafts available in case the kids are feeling particularly inspired and would like to create a master piece. Speaking of masterpieces - try and get the brown and super comfy sofas behind the bar as the table there is actually a black board with enough chalks available for the mini Picassos of Tunbridge Wells to unleash their creativity.

This is probably the best place to mention that they also have a number of high chairs (padded!) available as well as a separate baby changing room, so you don't have to feel pressured that there might be a queue outside huffing and puffing waiting for you to vacate the loo.

Parking:  8/10. There are a number of paid parking spaces available in front as well as underneath the space. Unfortunately no immediate street parking is available (welcome to Tunbridge Wells) but you can always park at the Lidl/Sainsbury's cark park nearby and walk from there (didn't hear it from me!)

Additional info: Available for private events and hire on Saturdays and Sundays. Catering available upon request.

Member reward: 10/10. Members get a brilliant 10% off all food and drinks, both to eat in or take away! Great for parents watching the pennies. Find more details here.
