The Spring Rooms

We recently caught up with Deborah at TN partner The Spring Rooms for the October issue of Tunbridge Wells business Magazine. Here is our interview in full. Deborah thanks members for supporting local with 10% off a wide range of 55 minute therapies, find them here.

Deborah, it's lovely to see you! At The Spring Rooms you're dedicated to complementary therapies, aren't you?

Yes, we offer a unique space which is home from home, a space where you can relax and leave the world outside and go on a journey of well-being. Our space is focused on all the senses, we believe in not just about touch but sound and smell, we have ambient music played throughout as well as our scented rooms, organic oils and a calming palette courtesy of our own unique branded marble canvases. The scent and sound create a sense of comfort to help you relax, feel safe and prepare you for your time.

We offer a wide variety of traditional and pioneering treatments to help you manage your stresses, pain and discomfort, this isn’t always physical but can be emotional or mental pain too. We aim to get to the root cause of the problem, helping to restore and promote ongoing good health and well-being.

We love to help to provide solutions for things such as back problems, muscle aches, joint pain, sports injuries and headaches. We also enjoy helping new mothers through pregnancy both pre and post birth… just to name a few!

A business is only as good as its team.  Who are your practitioners?

We have a great team of professional practitioners here at The Spring Rooms, offering between them a host of therapy options and some new ones too, which use an integrated approach of therapies such as hypnotherapy, NLP and counselling to spiritual awakening to health & wellness coaching… and let’s not forget facial treatment and massage therapy!

We collaborate and complement each other in our treatments we provide (where needs be) as not all treatments are the same and not one can fit all. We ensure we have something unique for everyone and that can be delivered as a bespoke treatment for the individual to address the problem. All our practitioners are experienced, fully qualified and knowledgeable in their field, and we also offer a low-cost clinic with therapists that have just qualified but need to gain experience in a practice and be hands on.

What is your own background?

I came from the creative industry working in a design agency in London prior, after having my son I didn’t want to go back to the stress and demands of commuting and working for someone but wanted to do something for myself. Little did I know that too has its moments of stress but when you do something you love it doesn’t feel like work… coming to work is like my second home!

I initially practiced in Wadhurst Physiotherapy Sports Injury Clinic for seven years and Neals Yard Therapy Rooms in Tunbridge Wells for five years until it eventually closed in 2019. I met some great therapists and clients, so I wanted to continue to work independently to maintain my client base. The real issue was finding space, initially I rented small rooms in away from the customer focus and areas that didn’t compliment my offering. After a year of working behind the scenes I wanted to create a space that had presence on the high street and had an opportunity to promote health and well-being. I found a space on The Pantiles and wanted to create something unique and new and something where therapists could work that was more than a back room and a space for clients to walk into and leave the outside world behind.

The Spring Rooms was ready to open in March 2020 but covid closed that opportunity but that gave me time to refine my offer and really build the business and know the day we opened we would be ready to help and change people’s lives. We finally opened under strict guidance in July 2020 and from day one we were able to help and treat people with various issues including problems caused by the newly introduced working from home at the dining room table!

What would you say makes The Spring Rooms so special?

We feel it is all about the people. We believe in all our therapists, and we love our clients, and we all work together and support each other to deliver the best solutions for the issues raised.

We want clients to return and benefit from our expertise, there is nothing more rewarding than helping people back to good health – being part of their journey and ensuring we can deliver the right treatments in an environment is so rewarding.

We also love our space, it’s like no other. We have created a space that isn’t clinical but an environment that is relaxing, calming and warm. A space where you can unwind, drop your shoulders and forget all your stress.

You also provide a space for therapists to hire, don't you?

Yes, we provide a space for independent therapists to hire like psychotherapists counsellors, nutritionists, coaches, acupuncturists and osteopaths but every therapist is interviewed and trade tested (where applicable) to ensure that there is a fit within The Spring Rooms and something that would complement the current offer or something that is new that can be a benefit to our clients.

I am grateful that you wanted to join the TN card, thank you.  How do you reward TN card members for supporting local?

We believe in community, the stronger we are together the better we can deliver for our community and support each other. TN card members receive 10% discount on our 55-minute body treatments, and we encourage people to sign up and benefit from the hundreds of rewards the card provides, not just at the Spring Rooms but in Tunbridge Wells.
