Last night thirty members gave the England game a miss to join us for a special evening at TN partner Greensand Ridge Distillery. Thank you to owner Will for being such a generous host and teaching us all about the processes behind his gin, fruit brandies and rums, and sharing his passion for being a mission-led, carbon neutral distillery.
Greensand Ridge is ten minutes from Tonbridge in Shipbourne and leads the way in sustainability. It was the first distillery in the UK to demonstrate carbon neutrality across all distillery operations and Will’s stills and equipment, heat pumps and bottling line are all powered by green electricity. He's reduced water waste by 85% by building a wildlife pond which acts as a closed-loop cooling system, and takes surplus and unwanted produce from our farmers (fruit rejected by the supermarkets) to create all his fermented and distilled spirits.
After enjoying a Greensand G&T in the evening sun we joined Will in the distillery for an informative and inspiring talk and an opportunity to sample the Greensand range - from the Raspberry and Blackcurrant Ghost to Plum Brandy and Apricot Eau de Vie, and of course his best selling London Dry Gin. Many of us bought a bottle or two to enjoy at home too!
